Frequently Asked Questions

What happenFAQs after I book an appointment?

You will receive confirmation of your appointment via email along with an intake packet to be completed before the appointment. All appointments are conducted via telehealth (Google Meet), and a link will be shared prior to your appointment. At the time of the appointment, you will meet with a psychologist for approximately 45 minutes to one hour to complete the evaluation.

What does an evaluation entail?

You will be asked questions regarding your medical and mental health history, as well as questions regarding your current functioning. You will also be asked to complete several measures online to provide additional information regarding your readiness for surgery.

How long after my evaluation will I be able to undergo the procedure?

The length of time between your evaluation and procedure depends on a number of factors that are assessed during the appointment. If you are cleared for surgery, your surgical team will be notified within one week, and they will then contact you to discuss next steps in preparing for your procedure.

What if I am not cleared for my procedure?

It is important to note that the vast majority of patients who are evaluated for this procedure are cleared and able to move forward with scheduling the procedure without issue. In the rare instance that an individual is not cleared, a plan is discussed for achieving readiness for surgery, which may include therapy or other interventions.
